Israel and Hamas begin mediated discussions in the Egyptian city on the US Palestinian ceasefire initiative.

Indirect talks focused on achieving a final agreement on a American ceasefire proposal to end the war in Gaza have started in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh.
Palestinian and Egyptian officials have stated that the discussions are concentrating on "preparing the environment" for a anticipated transfer that would see the liberation of all captured Israelis in return for a quantity of incarcerated individuals.

Many Palestinians characterized the group's reaction to the peace plan as unanticipated, after days of signals that the group was considering denial or at least significantly qualify its acceptance of the US framework.
